Becoming A Councillor/Co-Opted Councillor

Elected Councillors serve a 4-year term.  Whilton Parish Council has five councillors and Whilton Locks has two. There are no vacancies at present.

Following election, training is  provided to all new councillors, so that they understand their role.  The minimum time commitment is preparation for, and attendance at one 2 hour meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of every alternate month, although it is hoped that councillors will embrace the role and would be prepared to represent the council in highway matters, allotment affairs, etc.

The council is supported by the Clerk, Sue Porter, who is also the Responsible Financial Officer.

The next parish council election will take place in May 2025 when we will be looking for new councillors to join the parish council.  The Clerk will be happy to help with any questions you might have.  Please call her on 01327 301570.

Nomination forms are available from West Northants Council's Elections Office or by contacting the Clerk, who will be happy to assist in any way.
