Welcome to our new village Newsletter.
Welcome to our new village Newsletter.
The group was formed in the Spring of 2023 following interest expressed by several village residents who wished to form a creative group that wasn’t solely restricted to a single genre of creative media. Evolving into an eventual mix of aspiring artists with a range of skill levels who create, inspire & support each other whilst having fun with their art. We currently have members from Whilton & surrounding villages.
Tutor led but definitely pursuing individual style & thought processes, members are encouraged to explore different genres of art, media & techniques. There is a basic kit list the majority of which is generally found in most households & advice on buying specific items is readily available should members need it. A wide range of materials is available for group use so that members can ‘try before you buy’ & avoid costly mistakes.
Subject matter is varied & we have covered still life, floral, figures & landscape. Media used is graphite / charcoal / pens / acrylic / watercolour / pastels / crayons on grounds of anything from newspaper through to media specific paper such as watercolour. Styles vary from realism to abstract.
A group of creative individuals coming together to enjoy producing inspirational pieces of artwork.
Whilton Village Hall is the venue. A light, warm space in which to explore different forms of art. Please note available parking is street parking.
We meet for 20 sessions a year on alternate Thursday mornings 10:30 -12:30
Sessions run from the end of September through to the end of June.
Project work is sometimes set as a way of encouraging experimentation & exploration of ideas & materials. The group also creates collaborative displays for the display board in the Village Hall as well as doing sketchbook work & final pieces. Individuality is encouraged.
If you are thinking about joining the group (we currently have a couple of places available) or in just coming along to have a look, you will be warmly welcomed.
